Hommage to Forward Russia

I heard that the band Forward Russia was going to part. Sad news, given that they were really excellent at what they are doing! I saw them in Brighton and this was really amazing, people where getting crazy and for the first time in a British gig, I saw people actually dance and push each other like in French gigs. Nice.
I don't even know which song to choose, I love them all! As they are not "famous" enough apart from purist to be on deezer, I let you have a look at a youtube video.

I think I'm in love....

...with the girl that lives two doors down. Must say the lyrics are quite girly for a song of "boyz band". And after a quick look at the music video clip, my gosh you can say "fuck we are back in the eighties, but the worst part of it!" Awful suits, ugly guitars, and the worst you can make in terms of haircut. So please listen to the music and close your eyes, don't look to close to the video, even if well I have to admit it gives a special taste to this song.

PS: It was quite predictable that the eighties were becoming fashionable again. But please guys, I hope you dress like that only in your videos!

Sia: breathe me but please don't cry

No no no we are not talking about MIA, the famous New York dj. Here it is Sia, the australian girly girl singer, that had quite a sad life. She lost her boyfriend in a car crash, that is maybe why the song of the day is so, well, let's say, sad and awfully painful. To cheer you up, another song from her is coming tomorrow, more funny (particularly the video). But enjoy anyway, that is what is great with music: from tears to laughs there is just one step.

J'ai retrouvé ma vieille chaussette

Petit message en français pour dire à ceux qui me connaissent que j'ai retrouvé mon vieux blog et même que ca m'a rendu très nostalgique. Spécial dédicace à pauline!

Brighton birth place of IT bands?

Again, another band from Brighton that is surely going to influence further sounds and bands. Most famous song collarbone, which is my song today, has been used for a Jaguar ad. Advertising may be dull and too materialistic, but at least it has the ability to make new generation of artists popular. So enjoy...

10 days doing nothing!

What a shame... 10 days of silence because I'm sometimes too lazy. Let's stay in the 80s, definitely the new sound of the ending decade. 80s in clothes, hairstyle (not always very beautiful but apparently fashion) and in sounds!

Metronomy: Heartbeaker

Metronomy is a group formed in 1999 by Joseph Mount, who lived in Brighton for a while before moving to London... Nights out is the second album of the band, released in september 2008, with a really good critics, the album being listed numbre 6 in NME lists of 2008 best albums.

and

Late of the Pier: Bathroom Gurgle.

One eye open

Terrific lyrics - Is Florence a psychopath? No one knows and anyway, her voice is too bewitching to be evil.

Dogs love Sam Sparro

I failed to my engagements of putting a new song a day. so today exceptionnally, and also because it's the first day of 2009, you are lucky enough to have two songs.

First one:
TV on the radio: Love dog
soft, smooth like cotton balls...

Second one:
Sam Sparro: Black & gold

It was party time yesterday. To make this moment last, a perfect song from a cute (californian?) guy who probably makes music like he is making love.
